    AMI stands for Applied Market Information Ltd.

    Applied Market Information Ltd. is Europe's leading specialist consulting and market research company for the global plastics industry. We undertake individual and multi-client studies, hold conferences, publish directories, databases and digital magazines all for the plastics industry.

  4. Do I need to register on the AMI web site?
    If you intend to purchase from the site then you must register first before you complete your purchases. Otherwise registration is voluntary.
  5. Why should I register if I do not intend to purchase a product on this visit?
    If you register with the AMI web site then on the lower part of the registration form are sections where you can tell AMI about your company activities and interests.
    Once AMI is aware of your interests then we can make sure that we only send you relevant information according to your expressed wishes. Furthermore registered users will receive early notice of new products and money off promotions. You can tell AMI at any time if you no longer wish to receive communications. AMI will never share your details with any other company for marketing purposes.
  6. What about forthcoming products?
    Visit our web site regularly and check our publishing blog to see details of forthcoming books. In addition if you register with us we will e-mail you details of new titles on a regular basis and from time to time we will make you special offers with big savings on titles you want.

  8. What is AMI's privacy policy?
    AMI promises not to give or sell your customer details to any other party without your permission. Only AMI Group personnel will know your identity. Furthermore although we use cookies to store details on your computer so that we recognise you when you visit our site, we will never use those cookies in any underhand way and will never gather information from your computer.
  9. What if I decide to cancel my order?
    How to cancel my order: For normal stock items you can cancel your order up to 30 days after you make it provided that the technical books, guides are unused and the databases unactivated. If you want to cancel an order you must send an e-mail message to sales@amiplastics.com stating your AMI order number and the reason for cancellation. Confirmation of your cancelled order will be made by AMI and the cancellation becomes effective when you receive that confirmation.

    Before we have dispatched: If you cancel your order before we dispatch any technical books, guides, reports or databases, and you paid by credit card, your credit card will be refunded in full. Normally we would despatch the goods to you within 24 hours of your order. If you paid by cheque or electronic transfer, then your funds will be returned to you as soon as possible. Note though, that due to European banking regulations you may incur some bank charges when your funds are returned.

    After we have dispatched: If you decide to cancel your order after we have dispatched the technical books, guides, directories or databases then you must return those products in perfect saleable condition to us within 30 days of your cancellation and we will refund the cost of the products in full to your credit card or return your electronic payment or cheque. However we cannot refund the cost of the postage and courier charges incurred in sending the products to you and you will bear the cost of returning the product to us at our Bristol, UK premises. AMI database products are supplied as a download, require the user to contact AMI for an activation code before the database is opened on a computer. Once the database has been activated, it is not returnable.

    AMI's Top 50 players in key markets & Statistical reports: These products are none returnable once shipped/downloaded unless faulty. This is because these are strategic documents which include research which identifies the top 50 players in certain markets. Once the goods are shipped/downloaded we consider that you are in receipt of that intelligence and no refund can be offered.

    PDF: Any report supplied in pdf form is not refundable once it has been downloaded.

  10. What if the goods are faulty on arrival?
    If the goods are faulty, defective or damaged then we will replace the goods at no charge to yourself. In the case of such damaged goods we will require them to be returned to us, at our cost, so that we can take the matter up with the courier or the publisher.
  11. What if the goods I order are delayed?
    If you order products from us on this web site and shipping is delayed, we will inform you of the delay by e-mail. At intervals of approximately 15 days you will be given the opportunity to either continue with your order or to cancel it. 

    *Please note AMI offices are open Monday to Friday 9.00 - 17.00. If you place your order over a weekend or on a UK public holiday the earliest your order will be dispatched will be the following Monday or the next working day.
  12. How will I know if my web order has been successful?
    You will receive an e-mail from our site confirming your order and you will receive a further e-mail from us when the goods have been shipped by us and a further email from Worldpay confirming the credit card transaction.

  14. Why will AMI deliver goods by post to some countries but not others?
    AMI has designated a series of countries where experience has shown it can rely upon the national post office to make successful deliveries within a reasonable time-scale. Outside of these countries we only ship goods by courier. The list of countries where we deliver goods by post are:
    Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
  15. Why do I have to submit a VAT number when I order goods?
    All goods are normally dispatched from our UK addresses. If your delivery address for goods is based within the countries of the European Union then we require your VAT number to comply with the requirements of the VAT authorities. Inter country exports between member countries within the European Union are carried out at a zero VAT rate provided that the recipient of the goods provides the supplier with a valid VAT number for the country where the goods are to be delivered. If the goods are to be delivered to the United Kingdom or outside the European Union then a VAT number is not required.
  16. Do I have to order online?
    No, although many customers do so for convenience and speed. For most products you will also be able to order by phone, fax or e-mail (subject to certain conditions). See How to order for more details of how to order offline.
  17. If there is a problem with my order, who should I speak to?
    Contact customer services at AMI. You can email either Regine Futter (rf@amiplastics.com) or Cathy Turbitt (ct@amiplastics.com) or use the contact details in Can I contact AMI by phone or fax? to phone or fax us. We refuse to use a call attendant system so rest assured that you will speak to one of our customer service experts. The AMI Group has tremendous language capability so if you let us know we can attend to your problem in any one of the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish, or Italian.
  18. What are the charges for shipping products?
    The following shipping charges apply:
    UK
    A delivery charge of £3.00 per book is added to orders sent by post within the UK.

    Europe
    For delivery by post within Europe a charge of £8/€10 per book is charged.

    Outside Europe
    A calculated courier charge (based on weight) will be added to countries outside Europe or to which AMI is unable to post items or where clients elect for delivery by courier.

    At the time you make your order you will be clearly shown the calculated post or courier charges and by confirming your purchase you will be deemed to have unconditionally accepted these charges.
    Please note: No refund in full or part shall be offered as a result of a late delivery by the carrier.
  19. How and when will my order arrive?
    Books for delivery within the UK and Europe are normally sent by standard mail, (unless a courier delivery is requested by you). Books for delivery outside of Europe and the rest of the world will normally be sent via courier.

    Books for delivery within Europe which are held in stock are normally dispatched within 24 hours of receipt of order and are usually delivered between 7-10 working days (subject to availability).

    Where books are delivered via courier, we aim to deliver 4-5 working days after we receive your order (subject to availability). We will advise you as soon as possible if there is likely to be a delay with your order.
  20. What currencies can I pay in on the web site?
    You can pay for your purchase in US Dollars, Euros or £ Sterling. All prices are shown in all three currencies and currency rates are regularly adjusted to reflect exchange movements.
  21. I want to pay with American Express
    We do not accept AMEX payments over the internet. However we do accept AMEX payments for orders by phone, e-mail or post. Contact our customer service department for further details. In addition because of the much higher costs involved in accepting payments by AMEX we reserve the right to make an additional 2% charge.
  22. How do I find the database, directory or Guide I am looking for?
    There are many ways to find the information you seek.
    AMI Products
    Use our search facility to look for key phrases such as extrusion or blow moulding etc. If you want to look at all the products on particular subjects choose one of our groups such as injection moulding or packaging from the subjects listed in the vertical blue toolbar or a further set of interest items located in the horizontal blue toolbar. If you go to the home page for AMI Publishing, you can choose from a list of publishing categories covering all our products. You can also download as a pdf file either our entire AMI Publishing catalogue or a leaflet on each product.   23. Is there any difference between an AMI Directory in book format and those in a database format?
    Yes, there is a difference. These products are sold as a hard copy book or as a database, see Directories & databases for a full explanation.
  24. Must I have my own version of Microsoft Access to run databases?
    You must have Microsoft Access 2007 or later version installed on your PC. If you do not have this, a runtime version of Access 2007 or later can be downloaded free of charge from Microsofts website.
  25. Can I install a database on more than one computer?
    AMI database prices shown on this site are for a single user license, which permits the purchaser to install the database, on to the hard drive one PC and an associated laptop. Licences are available for multiple installations and for incorporation into company intranets, please contact AMI's Publishing division for prices and availability. AMI's databases incorporate a security system which prevents them being used illegally (see question below).
  26. When I have bought an AMI database, do I need to register it?
    Yes. To open the database you will need an activation code, which you obtain by calling AMI's Publishing Division. If you are intending to install the database on both your computer and your laptop, then you will need two activation codes. Once you have bought a database you can buy additional liecenses at very competitive prices. If for some reason at a later point you need to re-install the database on another computer, then you will need to apply for a fresh activation code. AMI retains records of issued activation codes and reserves the right to decline further requests for activation codes once products have already been activated.
  27. What if I experience problems in installing or using AMI databasess?
    Don't worry. Each AMI database comes with complete installation instructions and AMI's installation assistant program will guide you through the installation. In addition you contact our support team for help and assistance at dbsupport@amiplastics.com.
  28. Does AMI supply electronic and download products?
    Some of AMI Publishing's reports are available in pdf download. To order reports in this form, please confirm your order to sales@amiplastics.com with all your company address and payment details and you will receive the download instructions from noreply@amiplastics.com. Make sure that this address is white listed in your system. Please note that before downloading the report you will be asked to agree to our copyright policy.
  29. I have ordered a downloadable report from AMI Publishing but I have not received the download instructions, what should I do?
    The download instructions come from an automatic email noreply@amiplastics.com, please make sure that this address is white listed in your system. If you cannot see this email, you can access the report by logging into your account on AMI's website.  See point 30. below.
  30. How can I access my Downloads?
    If you have ordered a downloadable report, you will receive an email with a link to our website. Please click on this link and enter the username and password. Store the email in a safe location for future reference. You can then click on My Downloads and you will see the reports you have purchased and you can then open them.
