    A Fruitful Fakuma for AMI

    AMI exhibited at the recent Fakuma exhibition which took place from 16-20 October in Friedrichshafen, Germany.  Present at the exhibition were Matt Wherlock, Regine Futter and Lizzy Carroll from the AMI Publishing team, Sylvia Tabero from AMI Consulting and Chris Smith & Andy Beevers from the AMI Magazines team. 

    AMI Publishing launched its latest publications in the form of 2 new guides: AMI's Guide to the Injection Moulding Industry in Austria and Switzerland.  News that the Germany injection moulding guide will be published in Q2, 2013 created much interest with pre-orders being confirmed by visitors to the stand. 

    Injection World - the monthly global magazine for moulders, mould makers and product designers - also received positive feedback at the show and stories and features covered at Fakuma will appear in future editions. 

    With numerous orders confirmed at the show and many leads to follow up, Fakuma proved a worthwhile and fruitful trip for the AMI team and a return visit to southern Germany in 2014 is very much on the cards.  

    Next up, AMI will be exhibiting at the Arabplast show (Stand 4D-163) in Dubai from 7-10 January.  Messe Düsseldorf will also shortly confirm stand allocation for the all -encompassing K Show to be held in October 2013, more to follow.......

    PlasticsWorld, the Twitter page for AMI's magazines, publications and events, has rapidly attracted more than 3,000 followers from around the globe.

    They are the first to hear about breaking industry news, and they are also the first to be notified when we publish a new issue of one of our five digital magazines: Compounding World, Film and Sheet Extrusion, Injection World, Pipe and Profile Extrusion and Pipeline Coating.

    Our Twitter page is also used to announce special discount offers on our books and publications, as well as delivering news about our comprehensive programe of plastics industry conferences.

  • AMI adds Android apps

    AMI adds Android apps

    AMI's digital magazines for the global plastics industry are now available on Android-based phones and tablet computers. Users can download free apps forInjection World,Compounding World,Film and Sheet Extrusion, plus Pipe and Profile Extrusion. Each provides free access to current and past issues.

    AMI launched free apps for the iPad/iPhone earlier this year, and these, along with new Android app, have already been downloaded more than 14,000 times. The addition of the new apps means that the magazines are now available on more than 800 different types of Android-based smartphones and tablets produced by a wide range of companies including Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG, Asus and Archos.

    In addition to the already busy conference calendar we are pleased to announce two brand-new events to the AMI conference schedule in 2013.

    AMI celebrates 25 years of flagship Masterbatch conference

    AMI celebrated the 25th anniversary of its flagship conference, Masterbatch, from 19-21 June in Vienna.  

    Delegates from all corners of the globe attended the conference which this year was headline sponsored by BASF.  After two days of stimulating discussion and presentations given by Cabot, IBM, Leistritz and Coperion amongst others, delegates and speakers dined at the prestigous Johann restaurant to mark the occassion.

    AMI Magazines publishes 100th edition

    AMI has published its 100th digital magazine with the April edition of Injection World. The company launched its digital magazine business with the first issue of Compounding World in December 2008, and subsequently added Pipe and Profile Extrusion, Film and Sheet Extrusion, Injection World and more recently Pipeline Coating.

    The high-quality, clearly-focused digital magazines are distributed globally free-of-charge, and they have proved very popular with readers and advertisers alike.

    AMI debuts at NPE 2012

    AMI made its inaugural appearance as an exhibitor at the recent NPE 2012 show held in Orlando during April. 

    AMI's increasingly popular Digital Magazines were well received at the show with subscription numbers to all four magazines added to.     Orders were taken on the stand for AMI Publishing's expanding range of reports on the North and South America markets. AMI's North American conference team also announced its programme for the next 12 months which generated interest amongst visitors to the booth.

    AMI launches Apps for the iPad & iPhone

    AMI has launched dedicated Apps for our digital magazines and our conference brochures. The first Apps are for the iPad and iPhone, with Android versions scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.

    AMI introduces Pipeline Coating magazine

    AMI has launched Pipeline Coating, a new digital magazine focusing on pipe protection technology, applications and markets. It builds on the considerable success on the company's Pipeline Coating conference.

    The first issue of the magazine was produced in November 2011 and can be accessed free-of-charge. Our next editions will published in May and November 2012. You can subscribe here and information on advertising in the magazine can be found  here.

    Wind industry update

    Wind energy is blowing strong across the world as nations strive to meet renewable power targets. As the AMI conference on Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture kicked off in Dusseldorf in December 2011, the UK Minister for the Environment was discussing expanding the number of wind turbines in Britain from 3,000 to 32,000, mainly offshore. This has big implications for the composites industry as demand is increasing for resin, foamed core and glass fi bre, as well as carbon fi bre for structural reinforcement. The blade length is increasing each year to give economies of scale, with LM Windpower showing a new 73.5m blade weighing 26 tons at the conference, which had required new technology to produce.

    Injection World App reaches 2000 downloads

    The iPad/iPhone App for Injection World magazine has now been downloaded more than 2,000 times since its launch less than four months ago. The USA is the leading country for downloads, with China, Germany, Thailand and the UK making up the rest of the top five.

    "We have been very pleased with the initial reaction to all five of our new apps," said Andy Beevers, head of business publishing at AMI. "So far we've had a total of more than 6,000 downloads, with Injection World accounting for more than 2,000 of these. The figures continue to grow on a daily basis, plus we expect lots more interest when we launch the Android versions next month."
