Polymers in Industry from A to Z: A Concise Encyclopedia

€100.00

With its 1,500 entries, this desktop and library reference provides a comprehensive yet concise overview of the materials, manufacture, structure and architecture, properties, processing, and applications within this vast field ? all in one handy volume.

It offers a unique mix of theory and application, displaying only the essential information, extensively cross-linked and via references to the recent scientific literature. The individual entries include a working definition highlighting the polymer's significance in academia and industry, followed by a brief illustration of the concepts and principles, including tables, drawings and core equations as appropriate.

As a result, scientists will be able to understand the commercial implications of their work, while polymer technologists, engineers, and designers will learn the theoretical background. In short: the first-stop personal reference for anyone studying or working within the field.

Dr. Leno Mascia He holds the position of Retired Reader in Polymer Technology at the Department of Materials at Loughborough University, UK. Dr Mascia was awarded his PhD in Polymer Technology from the University of Aston, UK. For the first 10 years of his expansive career, Dr. Mascia worked as a Research Scientist first at I.C.I., Plastics Division, UK and then at Raychem, Corporate Technology , UK. This was followed by 30 years in academia, at Aston University and at Loughborough University, with close links to industry.

Dr Mascia is the European Editor for Advances in Polymer Technology (Wiley-Interscience). He is widely recognised as an authority in the field of Polymer Science and Engineering and the main author of more than 150 publications, three textbooks and 12 patents. His main research activities are concerned with property enhancement of polymeric materials through morphology control, either by innovative processing routes or by the formation of heterophase structures. He has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Science in recognition for his sustained contribution to scientific research in the field of Properties Enhancement of Polymer Materials.
