HIGH TECHNOLOGY HELPS SWISS AND AUSTRIAN MOULDING MARKETS STAY BUOYANT

AMI, Bristol, 16th November 2012 - Applied Market Information (AMI) has published new editions of its Swiss (Ed. 5) and Austrian (Ed.6) injection moulding guides.   Each guide provides a comprehensive listing on the location and production activities of injection moulders currently operating in Switzerland (235 sites) and Austria (187 sites).  AMI guides are aimed at companies wanting to find out more about the latest developments in the plastics markets or those intending to expand their supplier or client base.

Despite the stagnant European economy, the injection moulding markets in Switzerland and Austria have remained resilient thanks to having among some of the most technically advanced companies in Europe.  Switzerland in particular has a well developed injection moulding sector with a particular strength in serving niche electrical, technical and medical markets whilst a high proportion of Austrian moulders supply the automotive industry and technical components for car and electrical industries assembling in Central and Eastern Europe.  In terms of consumption, Swiss moulders processed an estimated 145,000 tonnes of polymer in 2012 compared to their counterparts in Austria who accounted for an estimated 130,000 tonnes.

Neither market has seen a significant change in the number of injection moulding sites in operation, testimony to the financial strength of companies in this sector.  Switzerland saw a 2% drop in the overall number of sites,  whilst Austria actually saw a 3% increase.  Despite a lack of radical change, some moulders have sought to increase profitability and reduce costs by consolidating moulding operations, either by merging production sites or by re-locating to countries with lower labour costs such as the Czech Republic and Hungary.

These guides provide accurate and up-to-date information on injection moulding plants in Austria and Switzerland.  This information has been compiled using AMI"s extensive knowledge of the industry and not only provides a directory and listing of moulders but also an overview and summary of the current status of the industry.
