AMI - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Policy

Release date: 15-April-2024

At AMI, we are committed to conducting business in a responsible and sustainable manner. Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policy reflects our dedication to creating a positive impact on the environment, society, and our stakeholders.

ESG values are deeply rooted in our company vision: to partner with the plastics industry to inform, influence, and drive progress through events, intellectual leadership, expert data, and insights. This outward vision is particularly formative for the plastics industry now that sustainability driven developments are the main drivers of change.

Environmental Responsibility

We are committed to minimising our carbon footprint and reducing waste by implementing sustainable practices across our operations.

We will continually strive to reduce energy consumption, increase the use of renewable energy sources, and optimize our resource utilization.

Our company will comply with all environmental regulations and seek to exceed the requirements set by regulatory bodies.

We work with a third party to annually measure our carbon footprint and identify changes in our day-to-day activities.

A few examples of our initiatives include:

  • We have recycling stations throughout the office.
  • We operate a paper-lite initiative and monitor and report printer usage by individual user.
  • We have a cycle to work scheme.
  • We produce digital magazines and have now digitalised all conference proceedings.
  • We have motion sensor lighting in our office.
  • We integrate sustainability considerations into our purchasing and selection process.
  • We collaborate with our clients and contractors to make our events more sustainable, with particular focus on reducing single-use plastics and minimising waste.
  • We organise our events close to the relevant industries to minimise travel and the associated environmental impact.

Social Responsibility

We firmly believe that people are the cornerstone of our success. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.

Our people actively engage with local communities through charitable initiatives and fundraising efforts to make a positive social impact.

Our company prioritises the health and safety of our employees and where possible ensures fair labour practices throughout our supply chain.

A few examples of our internal initiatives include:

Governance and Ethics

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of governance, transparency, and ethics in all our business dealings.

Our company will maintain open communication channels and encourage a corporate culture that values integrity, accountability, and ethical behaviour.

We will adhere to all relevant laws and regulations, as well as cultivate a strong culture of compliance and responsible governance.

A few examples include:

  • AMI Employee Handbook – provided to each employee at the time of their induction detailing all practices, processes and behaviours required of an AMI employee. This receives regular updates to address changing conditions and laws.

  • A documented Code of Conduct for events – sets out the standards of behaviour and conduct expected of AMI employees and attendees at our events, ensuring that legal and ethical principles are followed in all areas of the business and upholding a zero tolerance on illegal or unethical behaviour.

  • Whistleblowing – encourages colleagues to speak up if they have concerns about illegal practices within AMI. All employees have access to a director or if deemed unsuitable an external body.

  • Having a clear anti-corruption and anti-bribery policy. All staff at the point of joining AMI have to complete a mandatory training course on the Bribery Act as part of their induction.

  • Informal monthly company updates for all employees providing transparency on company performance and initiatives, while providing an open forum for questions.

  • Cyber Security and Information Governance: Cyber security has gained wider attention as the global workforce has pivoted to working from home and as data breaches occurred at companies in various industries. Companies can be fined, lose their IP and/or suffer reputational damage if they do not adequately protect their information networks. AMI has taken significant strides forward regarding protecting our networks and company IP. We have done this by introducing regular phishing simulations for staff with training and we ethically hack our own network to look for security vulnerabilities.

Our ESG policy underscores our dedication to responsible business practices and our commitment to creating long-term value for our stakeholders and the world at large. We will continually review and improve our ESG initiatives to ensure that we are meeting our sustainability goals and contributing to a better future for all.
