Mass balance - there is no doubt that the most frequently asked questions for our team during the networking receptions and networking breaks of both the North American and European chemical recycling conferences this year evolved around mass balance - what exactly is it, why is it needed and how does it actually work. The UK Government, in publishing its consultation "Plastic Packaging Tax - chemical recycling and adoption of a mass balance approach" on 18th July is asking the same and some more questions, opening a 12-week consultation period scheduled to finish on 10th October 2023.
