Exhibitor Spotlight: BioRegion Technology on bio-derived carbon, renewable materials and the circular economy
23 October 2026
As AMI Plastics World Expos 2026 approaches, we’re speaking with exhibitors about the innovations, challenges and opportunities shaping the plastics industry.
In this exhibitor spotlight, Kari Kongsore from BioRegion Technology discusses TruBlack™, the company’s 100% bio-derived carbon, its growing portfolio of biobased materials, and the potential for renewable solutions to create new opportunities across plastics and other industries.
Company: BioRegion Technology Booth: C1019
What makes your company stand out? What sets you apart from the competition, and why should visitors make sure to visit your stand?
BioRegion Technology has launched TruBlack™ 100% bio-derived carbon made from renewable feedstock. TruBlack goes beyond tradition and sets a new standard for renewable technology. We embrace innovation and new approaches to find sustainble solutions. Key differences in our products versus competitors; the absence of carbon black, petroleum derivatives, improvement of iron oxides and produced from a single raw material. We are committed to clean, safe, and regenerative products, operated and made in the USA. Our mission is to redefine the way our customers view the circular economy with TruBlack.
What’s the next big thing you’re working on? Can you give us a sneak peek into any new technologies, innovations, or breakthroughs you're bringing to the market?
We have a portfolio of biobased products. Our variety of grades allows us to explore and integrate into new industries. We offer our sustainable, cost-effective, and novel material as a clean solution. BioRegion Technology is expanding into agriculture with filtration media. Our cosmetics grade material is the first of its kind, our oat-based material is a natural-derived ingredient to improve formulation, soothing benefits to the skin, and create better non-toxic makeup.
What’s the biggest challenge in the industry right now – and how are you tackling it? Whether it's sustainability, supply chain issues, or something else, we’d love to hear your take!
The adaptability of the industry, we are looking to push boundaries and truly reshape our future. Whether that is for renewable plastics, smart thermoforming, natural, non-toxic cosmetics, or regenerative agriculture practices. We want to be part of pioneering the circular economy, and changing how we operate as suppliers and consumers on this earth.
Fast forward 10 years - how do you see the industry evolving? What major trends do you think will reshape the sector, and how should businesses prepare?
Our brand seeks novel methods to transform finite resources into limitless applications. Products that incorporate TruBlack perform at the highest level of quality and functionality. From plastics to cosmetics, our biobased carbon pushs the boundaries of clean technology. We believe the industry is following in the big footsteps of consumers who demand clean products and a green earth. As AI evolves, so does every industry and how we operate. We believe in the materials that are already here on our planet to provide, create innovation, renewable solutions, and give back to our roots, not taking away from our finite resources.
What excites you most about this year’s expo? Are you launching something new, speaking at a session, or just looking forward to networking with industry leaders?
We are so excited for our VP of Research and Development, Philip Brunner, to speak at AMI. Likewise, network with industry leaders and connect with potential customers who are interested in our sustainable solution and biobased material.
