Exhibitor Spotlight: GOETTFERT on rheology, real-time measurement and data-driven plastics processing

21 October 2026

As AMI Plastics World Expos 2026 approaches, we’re speaking with exhibitors about the innovations, challenges and opportunities shaping the plastics industry.

In this exhibitor spotlight, Tim Haake from GOETTFERT Inc. discusses the company’s specialist focus on rheological testing, its latest online rheometer, and why reliable measurement data will become increasingly important as AI and data-driven technologies reshape plastics processing.

Company: GOETTFERT Inc. Booth: C917

What makes your company stand out? What sets you apart from the competition, and why should visitors make sure to visit your stand?

"This is Rheology" is more than a slogan for us—it is who we are.

Rheology is our business, our expertise, and our passion. Unlike many competitors, we are not a small division within a larger organization or a company spread across multiple technologies and markets. We focus exclusively on rheological testing and characterization, from melt indexers and capillary rheometers to online rheology systems and the associated tools that support them. As a family-owned company, we are personally invested in what we do. The family and our employees stand behind our products and are committed to delivering the performance, quality, and support our customers expect.

This singular focus has established GOETTFERT as a technology leader in rheology. We have built our reputation on expertise, innovation, reliability, and long-term commitment to our customers—and we work every day to uphold that reputation.

If rheology matters to your work, we invite you to visit our stand and see why "This is Rheology" is more than just a tagline.

What’s the next big thing you’re working on? Can you give us a sneak peek into any new technologies, innovations, or breakthroughs you're bringing to the market?

Our latest online rheometer combines decades of experience from two areas of expertise: rotational and oscillatory rheometry in the laboratory, and process rheology in online applications.

While conventional rotational rheometers primarily characterize polymer structure at low frequencies and capillary rheometers describe flow behavior at high shear rates, the ROR bridges the gap between these methods. It combines the strengths of both approaches, delivering fast, process-relevant measurements of polymer structure and flow behavior in real time.

The result is a unique online rheometer that provides deeper insight into material behavior directly within the process, enabling better process control and a more comprehensive understanding of polymer performance.

What’s the biggest challenge in the industry right now – and how are you tackling it? Whether it's sustainability, supply chain issues, or something else, we’d love to hear your take!

Whether the challenge is sustainability, recycling, product consistency, or process optimization, the common denominator is the need for reliable data.

At GOETTFERT, we help our customers meet these challenges by providing the rheological information they need to understand their materials, optimize their processes, and make better decisions. Better data leads to better outcomes.

Over the next ten years, we expect the industry to become increasingly data-driven. Better models, artificial intelligence, and access to large amounts of process and material data will help companies predict performance, optimize processes, and accelerate product development.

However, even the most sophisticated models are only as good as the data they are built on. At some point, every prediction, simulation, or AI model must be anchored to accurate, reliable measurement data. That fundamental requirement will not change.

At GOETTFERT, our mission is to provide the high-quality rheological data that engineers, scientists, and future digital tools can rely on. As technologies evolve, the need for trustworthy measurement data will remain—and we intend to continue providing it.

What excites you most about this year’s expo? Are you launching something new, speaking at a session, or just looking forward to networking with industry leaders?

What excites us most is the opportunity to have real conversations with the people who use, specify, and rely on rheological data every day. Trade shows remain one of the best opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and learn from one another. If history is any guide, we will probably learn as much from our visitors as they learn from us.
