Exhibitor Spotlight: Holland Colours on sustainable additives, colorants and the future of plastics

8 October 2026

As AMI Plastics World Expos 2026 approaches, we’re speaking with exhibitors about the innovations, challenges and opportunities shaping the plastics industry.

In this exhibitor spotlight, Nick Goble, Sales Manager at Holland Colours Americas Inc., discusses the company’s approach to sustainable colorants and additives, the importance of industry collaboration, and how regulation and sustainability could reshape plastics over the next decade.

What makes your company stand out? What sets you apart from the competition, and why should visitors make sure to visit your stand?

We’ve been developing and supplying the highest quality solid and liquid colorants, color masterbatches and advanced polymer additives since our inception 45 years ago. So, while others are just becoming green, we’ve been focusing on that for nearly a half-century. As a business partner, we always find a better way forward by working together. We focus on personal service and co-design innovative solutions for a sustainable industry. Visitors should stop by our stand to see how deep our co-designing, sustainable efforts run from start to finish, whether that is a new additive, colorant, or new product altogether.

What’s the next big thing you’re working on? Can you give us a sneak peek into any new technologies, innovations, or breakthroughs you're bringing to the market?

We’re always looking toward the future by working with our business partners and customers, keeping our ears and eyes open to industry developments. Since founding Holcobatch, the first earth friendly plastic colorant, we’ve been developing cutting edge products and technologies to stay ahead of the game. Next up? Expanding our sustainable additives lines to make new products more reusable and existing products more sustainable. In addition, we are deeply committed to fostering strategic partnerships across the entire value chain. We deliver high-performance, functional additive solutions that support recycling processes and elevate the quality of recycled materials. Ensuring a vibrant and sustainable future for plastics in an ever-evolving landscape.

What’s the biggest challenge in the industry right now – and how are you tackling it? Whether it's sustainability, supply chain issues, or something else, we’d love to hear your take!

Right now, sustainability and regulatory pressures are so important as we maneuver green efforts within the entire industry. And while supply chain issues have improved greatly in the last couple of years, tariffs may prove to be a real challenge in the near future. But we have great business partners including long-term, positive relationships, so we’ll navigate successfully through that, as well.

Fast forward 10 years - how do you see the industry evolving? What major trends do you think will reshape the sector, and how should businesses prepare?

Over the next 10 years, the industry will evolve to meet big regulatory requirements. This means the entire plastics supply chain will have to be stringent about meeting company, industry, regional, state and federal guidelines. Whether that means meeting a certain % of recycled usage or creating a whole new material stream (think bioplastics), the industry will change greatly. Businesses will have to be able to pivot from old ways of meeting expectations to create flexibility in order to secure their future growth.

What excites you most about this year’s expo? Are you launching something new, speaking at a session, or just looking forward to networking with industry leaders?

The best part about any expo is making connections face-to-face. Recent developments in and widespread acceptance of online meetings are incredibly convenient. But the opportunity to meet prospects and current customers/suppliers in person allows us to cultivate true partnerships with deeper commitments. We are proud to unveil our latest innovations designed to enhance the capabilities of both our recycling partners and converters. At HCA, our shared focus remains on shaping the future of plastics, and we’re eager to share this vision with our industry peers and collaborators. Teaming up is in our DNA, so that’s really exciting.
