Optimizing Heat Transfer: How Thermal Analysis Can Revolutionize Production Line Efficiency

21 October 2025

Headshot of Kevin Sheldon, USA Rolls

Kevin, tell us a bit about USA Rolls and your role there.

USA Rolls was founded in 2009. By the grace of God, we have grown every year we have been in business up until the COVID year, and we have no sales people. We focus on providing a great roll at a fair price, optimized for your process through our in-house engineering and over 25 years of experience in designing and fabricating heat transfer rolls for a variety of applications.

Your upcoming session is titled “Using thermal analysis to optimize the performance of heat transfer rolls.” What’s the main takeaway you want the audience to walk away with?

That thermal analysis is more than just a transactional equation that can be purchased as software.

Why is this such a timely topic for the industry right now?

Companies are looking to optimize their production lines to be as efficient as possible as they struggle with a lack of labor resources.

What kind of challenges will your presentation help attendees tackle?

There may be opportunities for increased throughput through designing the internals of the roll for the product they are running today.

Can you give us a small sneak peek into something interesting or unexpected from your talk?

Optimized rolls allow for a larger range of operating parameters.

Who do you think will benefit most from joining your session?

Process engineers, maintenance engineers, and purchasing.

What’s one thing you hope attendees will think differently about after hearing you speak?

Ask the right questions to their roll vendors, to better understand what they are purchasing and the actual knowledge behind it.

What inspired you to focus on this topic?

Customers reaching out for solutions to processing problems.

And finally, beyond your presentation, what are you most looking forward to at this year’s expo?

Satisfied customers and old friends.
